The Big Event!

We are so glad that all of you will be joining us for our big day. In European fashion, we have many events planned for the weekend, and more will appear here as the plans are solidified. To get your planning started, here are the wedding details:

Shuttle – We are arranging a shuttle from The Marriott Residence Inn and the Four Points Sheraton Hotel. More details about reserving a seat and the shuttle times will be forthcoming. The plan is to have two departure times (approximately 1:45 pm and 2:45 pm), and three return times (approximately 8:30 pm, 9:30 pm, and 10:30 pm).

Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park – If you are driving yourself, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the park from Tallahassee and 10 minutes to get through the ranger station and to the parking area. You need not pay admission to the park, but you must tell the ranger that you are a guest of the wedding. From the park website: Wakulla Springs is home of one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world, this park plays host to an abundance of wildlife, including alligators, turtles, deer, and birds. The Wakulla Springs Lodge was built in 1937 by financier Edward Ball. Wakulla Springs State Park and Lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a National Natural Landmark. The park is located off State Road 61, about 30 minutes south of Tallahassee.

Directions – Head South onto U.S. 319/State Road 61 (Crawfordville Highway) for two miles. Bear left onto State Road 61(Wakulla Springs Rd) for six miles. Turn left onto State Road 267 at flashing stop light. Turn right into Park entrance.

THE CEREMONY!!– The main event begins at 3:30 pm in the Great Room of the Wakulla Springs Lodge. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow for parking, walking to the Lodge, and finding your seat. If you want to come earlier in the day, there are hiking trails, a restaurant, a soda fountain, a dive platform, manatees, alligators, boat tours, and a bath house in the park. Boat tours generally run at 40 after the hour for 45 minutes; the last boat tour will run at 4:30, after the ceremony; we recommend reservations, which can be made earlier in the day. Cocktails, a light dinner, and dancing will follow the wedding ceremony at the Lodge.

Children’s activities – Babysitting services will be provided during the reception upstairs at the Lodge. For planning purposes, please let us know if you are planning on bringing your children; they are welcome to celebrate with us and spend time downstairs at the reception as well. Kids’ food, movies, and some toys and games will be available, as well as a quiet room for napping. If you have toys, games, or a portable crib/pack ‘n’ play that your children enjoy, please bring them along.
